Happening At Manoa

Happening At Manoa is an application for members of the UH Manoa community to see what events are going on in their community as well as search for events that aligns with their interests. Our goal is to help build connectivity within the UH Manoa community with an application that will make knowing about and attending events more convenient.

Contributions

I handled the MongoDB, the database and collections, aspect of it, with MongoDB being a document-collection-based database. Do not confuse this with the server-side as the others had their fair share of workings in it. I also handled creating the Edit and Add Event pages, where one can create and edit a posted event. Finally, the final landing page was created by me to link to other pages and look nice.

Note: I also tried to implement the Email system, but eventually was unsuccessful, having not learned it sufficiently to deploy it with DigitalOcean.

Takeaways

You learn how doing a project with a group is completely different from doing things solo, especially if it’s your first time doing something with a group of people you don’t know. Projects take time and coordination, and you learn things the hard way. Sometimes, failing is the only way you learn.
